It is strongly recommended not to sign a contract:
1. Until you have received an explanation of all the points you do not understand.
2. If the contract contains missing lines, unfilled data, etc.
3. If the contract provides for unilateral changes to it.
4. If the contract provides for the right of the shipowner to withhold wages from the seafarer, make deductions, etc.
5. If the contract contains clauses in which the seafarer undertakes to cover the costs of arrival on board the ship and repatriation independently, with the exception of unilateral termination of the contract by the seafarer and other violations of the contract provided for by the flag legislation.
6. If the contract restricts the seafarer’s right to be a member of a trade union and seek help.
